Alicja Saar-Koz?owska is an art historian and museologist. Since 1983 she has been a lecturer at the Department of Museology (Institute for Study, Restoration and Conservation of Cultural Heritage) of the Nicholas Copernicus Faculty of Fine Arts. At the University she delivers lectures on the history of modern art in Europe and in Poland, in particular history and techniques of sculpture, arranging of museum exhibitions, and history of artistic doctrines.

She is also a Board member of the Association of Art Historians in Poland, and a member of the ICIMSS Board of Directors.

In 1996 she was awarded the Polar Star Medal by His Majesty the King of Sweden Carl Gustaf XVI in recognition of her research on the Vasa Royal Family in Poland and Sweden. She is in the final stages of her PhD dissertation entitled A burial monument of Anna Vasa. The history, symbolic meaning and the problems of conservation and preservation, which relates to her main field of scientific research, the biography of Anna Vasa (1568-1625), daughter of King Johan III of Sweden and the Polish Royal Princess Catherine Jagellonica, granddaughter of Gustav Vasa I and Sigismund the Old and Bona Sforza, an extraordinary woman in the early modern times, mainly interested in botany and phytotherapy, who prepared medicines by herself and ran a chemist?s shop for her subjects, the protector of ill and poor people. Anna Vasa was buried in Toru? in 1995 after examination of her remains. Alicja was the main organizer of Anna Vasa?s royal ceremonial funeral. Alicja also writes poems and as a daughter of an artist has had an interest in painting from her childhood.
