Doris Pack
Doris Pack is a Member of the European Parliament (Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats). She graduated from teaching college in 1965, and taught in primary schools from 1965 to 1974. From 1983 to 1985 she was a Senior Advisor in the Saarland Ministry of Education. She was a member of the Bingen council from 1967 to 1974. From 1974 to 1976 she was a member of the Saarbrken city council, and was a member of the Bundestag from 1974 to 1983 and 1985 to 1989. She was a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and of the WEU Assembly from 1981 to 1983 and from 1985 to 1989.
Ms. Pack has been a Member of the European Parliament (in the EPP-ED Group) since July 1989. She is Chairwoman of the Committee on Culture and Education and Member of the Delegation for relations with South-East Europe.
In addition, she has held positions as Chair of the Franco-German Foundation for Cultural Cooperation, President of the open university association (VHS) Saar, President of the European Children and Youth Book Fair, Vice-President of the European Movement on the Saar since 1998, and is also a member of the ZDF Television Council.
She was awarded the German Federal Order of Merit in 1985, the Order of Zvonimir of Croatia in 1995, the German Federal Order of Merit, First Class in 1996, the French Ordre international de Mite in 1996, and the Etoile civique en or of France in 2004. She received the Order of the Republic of Albania in 2002, the Austrian Order of Merit in 2006, and an honorary doctorate from Zadar University in Croatia in 2007.
Piotr Borys
Piotr Borys, born on 11 January 1976, is married and has two daughters. He graduated with a Masters in Law in 2001 from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Wroc?aw, with a specialization in economic policy. In the same year he joined the management board and became Chairman of the Board of the Agency of Regional Development. Subsequently he was employed as a Chairman of the Board at Aquapark Polkowice S.A. Since 2006 he has been a Member of the Civic Platform (PO) party and a member of the PO's Dolno?l?skie Regional Council. Piotr Borys' political career began when he was elected councillor in 1998 and joined the Municipal Executive. After the election in 2002 he became a member of the Lower Silesian Assembly, where he performed the function of Vice-President. Thereafter he was chosen for Vice-Marshall of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship with oversight for the Social Affairs Department and the Health Policy Department. In 2009 Piotr Borys was voted a Member of the European Parliament, where he sits on the Culture and Education Committee and the Legal Affairs Committee as well as in the delegation to the EU-Kazakhstan, EU-Kyrgyzstan and EU-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committees, and for relations with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia.
